Service provision company and former warship builder VT plc has
predicted a boom in public sector outsourcing in line with drastic
public spending cuts next year, and says that fleet leasing will be
part of the solution.

As well as managing 4,000 vehicles for the Metropolitan Police,
VT is already responsible for management of the 14,000 non-military
vehicles owned by the Ministry of Defence.

Now Paul Lester, VT’s chief executive, says his company is
talking to local authorities and NHS Trusts about leasing vehicle
fleets on their behalf.

For lessors who have experienced the sometimes considerable
difference in procurement strategies between different local
authorities, the involvement of companies like VT in public sector
outsourcing can only be good news.
