Vehicle remarketing is a dynamic, expanding field within the automotive industry. Company fleets are increasingly transitioning to consumer vehicles, while technology is also transforming this arena.
Vehicle remarketing innovation – Apps
Vehicle remarketer Aston Barclay launched a vendor calculator to provide dealer and fleet vendors with real-time market intelligence during live auctions.
It said that the calculator was part of its target to integrate its digital business and physical auctions to make the process of selling with Aston Barclay quicker and more efficient.
Providing vendors with live performance management on each vehicle entered into an Aston Barclay auction, as well as their overall asset portfolio, the vendor calculator is intended to increase conversion rates, build buyer confidence and unlock increased profit through accurate data use.
Vehicle remarketing innovation – Low Emission Zones
Anticipating changes in the automotive sphere has been a key element of innovation in the vehicle remarketing sector, and this is especially evident in the approach to the advent of Low Emission Zones across urban areas.
Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) has indicated that the used LCV market showed signs of change with the introduction of the London Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ).

By GlobalDataAccording to SVA, while the general level of prices and demand remains high, businesses became more cautious and bought cheaper vans rather as opposed to taking out a loan or using their own cash to buy a more expensive van.
This caution is reflecting in turbulent buying patterns of dealers with the specialist higher cost stock such as tippers and models currently in high supply such as Ford Transit Customs and VW Caddys.
Those operators who work in and around London and are affected by the new ULEZ, will have to invest more money in Euro 6 vans, said Shoreham.
Vehicle remarketing innovation – Used Stock Demand
There is a growing trend of manufacturers repatriating ex-lease vehicles back into their franchise dealer network, as demand for quality used stock increases.
This is according to a report from e-commerce solutions provider epyx, which revealed that activity through its 1link Disposal Network platform and elsewhere suggests that fewer ex-manufacturer cars and vans are being disposed of through open sales to retailers.
The 1link Disposal Network is a source of trade stock in the UK, offering a range of cars and vans from leasing companies and motor manufacturers. Its service covers functions including vehicle procurement, maintenance, hire, remarketing and relicensing.
