Rosagroleasing, the Russian state’s agricultural leasing
company, announced plans this week to supply more than 3,000
pieces of farming machinery to Russian farmers before this year’s
spring sowing, including 2,500 tractors.
Rosagroleasing acting director general Stanislav Aleinik said
that the company had received bids for the supply of some 15,800
agricultural assets in 2010. In addition, it intends to lease
30,000 head of cattle.
The company has purchased 55,400 units of agricultural machinery
and equipment since 2002, with a value of 73.5 billion roubles
(€1.7 billion).
Russian Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik, the former head of
Rosagroleasing, said that the mandate of the state owned lessor was
to ensure “the support of Russian farmers through the lease of
necessary machinery, equipment, and pedigree cattle”.
