Greek lessor Piraeus has supplied the municipality of Athens
with finance for the acquisition of a fleet of waste management
vehicles from waste management contractor Helesi, to enter service
between May and December this year.
The deal, worth €14.4 million, will cover the supply of the
vehicles and ancillary equipment over the next five years, while a
further agreement will provide maintenance and services at €1
million per year.
Helesi, which also operates in Italy and the UK, is a
manufacturer of plastic waste containers, but also holds a fleet of
waste management vehicles through services company Perivallontiki
Environmental Services, which it acquired early in 2007.
Helesi CEO Sakis Andrianopoulos said: “Our vehicles business is
growing and prospering. This award provides a good illustration of
the scale of contracts we can now service since acquiring
Perivallontiki in 2007, confirming our strategy behind the
acquisition.”
