French equipment finance lessors financed €5.3 billion of new
business in the first quarter of 2009, according to the latest
figures reported by the Association Française des Sociétés
Financières (ASF), the French leasing association.

This represents a 19.7 percent fall on the same period in 2009,
and a stronger decline than the previous quarter’s 9.1 percent
fall.

Meanwhile, factoring has also recorded a fall of 5.8 percent
year-on-year, the first decline recorded in 22 straight quarters of
growth. Factoring new business totalled €28.6 billion in the first
quarter of 2009, the ASF reported.
