Storage distributor Magirus has teamed-up with EMC Global
Financial Services to launch Magirus Credit Solutions (MCS), a
service aimed at freeing up resellers’ credit lines through
flexible finance packages.
The distributor said it aims for leasing to represent 50 percent
of channel financing by 2012. One of the programme’s key features
is its ‘FastTrack Credit Approval’, which allows resellers to check
customers’ credit approval via the Internet.
EMC is the first vendor to participate in the service thus far,
but Magirus said it would be expanding to include others over time,
including VMware, the virtualisation software company.
One of the solutions to be offered is a zero-percent finance
rental programme for EMC networked storage systems.
“It is an ideal route to go down when trying to get a customer
to commit. It also gives resellers a chance to approach the
customer again before their lease runs out, with new options,” said
Derek Walton, Magirus’ finance director for Northern Europe.
