The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has
provided a €1 million loan to Albanian leasing company Landeslease,
in order to kick start SME lending in the country’s fledgling
leasing sector.
Landeslease was established in 2005 as the first independent
lessor in Albania, where leasing currently represents around one
percent of national GDP. It leases a wide range of wheeled and
plant assets to Albanian SMEs.
It is hoped that the credit line will diversify Landeslease’s
funding base, as well as giving an example for other companies
considering involvement in the nation.
Since the beginning of its operations in Albania the EBRD has
invested over €550 million in various sectors of the country’s
economy.
