Irish aircraft leasing group Avolon has announced it has
acquired two Airbus A320 aircraft from German carrier Air Berlin,
which is the fifth largest airline in Europe.
The planes were acquired under a sale and lease back agreement
and will be operated by Swiss carrier Belair, a subsidiary of Air
Berlin.
Headquartered in Ireland, Avolon launched only two months ago
after successfully raising initial capital of $1.4 billion
(€1.1 billion).
Avolon’s now has more than thirty aircraft in its committed
fleet and Avolon CEO Dómhnal Slattery was said to be “delighted”
with the recent transaction.
