All international legal disputes within the aircraft leasing
sector will now be heard in Dublin.

The Irish High Court has agreed to become the international
centre for aircraft leasing disputes and will mediate on all such
disputes regardless of the provenance of the claim, according to
Ireland’s Sunday Business Post.

The cases will be heard by the Commercial Court, a division
within the High Court that fast tracks significant business
disputes.

The agreement forms part of the Cape Town Convention, and comes
following negotiations between the main players in the
aircraft-leasing sector. It is understood that the industry agreed
to the move because of the Irish courts’ reputation for efficiency
in dealing with commercial disputes.

Ireland, which has become a hub for global aircraft lessors due
to its tax advantages, is also home to the operator of an
international internet-based registry for aircraft and aircraft
engines.
