Stéphane Verwilghen has been appointed the regional manager for Arval subsidiaries in Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Morocco, Portugal and Switzerland.

Verwilghen has spent the past eight years as general manager of the fleet lessor’s Belgian arm, during which its leased fleet grew from 17,000 in 2004 to 32,500 in 2012 and will be tasked with harmonising products and services in his new role.

Roberto Fonseca, who in the past has worked as general manager of Arval’s Brazilian subsidiary and more recently Greek subsidiary, has take on Verwilghen’s old post as general manager of Arval Belgium.

Akis Lionis has been promoted from chief financial officer to general manager of Arval Greece.

Huib ter Braak, director of Arval’s Europe and Mediterranean Zone, said: "We are happy to be handing the regional management to Stéphane Verwilghen. His success in Belgium has been very convincing, and augurs well for the dynamism in the region of which he will be in charge.

"Choosing Roberto Fonseca as successor, we offer our Belgian subsidiary a CEO who will pursue and support its development thanks to his experience in the management of subsidiaries in Brazil and Greece."
