United Trust Bank (UTB) has appointed Lisa Thomas as Head of Credit, Asset Finance, bringing over 20 years of experience in the sector to the role.
Thomas began her career in asset finance with funders including Syscap, RBS, and Hitachi before joining Société Générale Equipment Finance (SGEF) in 2007. Over the past four years, she has served as Head of Strategic & Portfolio Risk at SGEF.
UTB’s Asset Finance division has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by investment in personnel and technology. The bank prioritises strong broker relationships and direct communication between its credit team and brokers to streamline transactions. Thomas will play a key role in shaping UTB’s credit strategy as the bank continues its expansion in specialist funding.
Commenting on her appointment, Thomas said: “I am excited to lead UTB’s highly regarded Asset Finance Credit team as the bank enhances its offering and pursues further growth.”
Nathan Mollett, Head of Asset Finance at UTB, highlighted the importance of the appointment amid ongoing economic uncertainty. “UTB has had a strong start to the year despite concerns over inflation, GDP, and the USA’s new trade policies. We are committed to leveraging our investment in technology and talent, and a first-class credit operation is crucial to that effort.”
He added: “Lisa’s extensive experience across different economic cycles will help us drive growth and strengthen the relationships between Credit and brokers. We will also continue to develop our auto-underwriting mandate while maintaining a disciplined yet pragmatic approach to lending.”
