Syscap launches
‘marketing’ operation for Autodesk
Design and engineering software
manufacturer Autodesk has partnered with BNP Paribas Lease Group
(BPLG) and Société Générale finance subsidiary Wanlease to launch
Autodesk Finance across five European countries.
The two lessors beat competition from three
other leasing companies to win the deal.
Autodesk hopes that its new leasing arm, which
went live in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece in recent
weeks, will provide a quarter of its total turnover in France
within three years.
Jean-Pierre Saint-Aimé, finance business
partner at Autodesk, said that he had already seen strong demand in
France and Italy in particular.

By GlobalDataHe added: “The traction in France and Italy
has been really promising.
“But our overall aim is to finance between 5
and 10 percent of our total business within six months – this would
be a great achievement.”
In the UK, Autodesk has also launched a
marketing initiative with Syscap to offer finance to UK
customers.
The minimum amount financed is £3,000 (€3,500)
and repayments are over a 36-month term.
“This is not the same financing partnership –
in the UK it is only a marketing-driven partnership. Our
partnership with BPLG and Wanlease is much more integrated,” Saint
Aimé said.
Explaining the purpose behind the overall
deal, Saint-Aimé said: “We wanted to give our customers a financing
platform which would make it easier for them to buy new products
and upgrade new software.
“The economic crisis was the real trigger for
us, but we had been thinking about setting it up for some time. Our
customers should be investing because they have a business need,
not only if they have the financial capability of doing so.”
Turning to the future, Saint Aimé said that
the six-month pilot programme would determine whether Autodesk
expands the finance programme into other EMEA countries. He added
that the programme would not necessarily restrict itself to working
with BPLG and Wanlease, either.
“There is no obligation to work with [BPLG and
Wanlease] everywhere. We would welcome any good lessors to come and
do business with us out there,” he said. “Even in Italy and France,
if a big partner is willing to go into the software business with
us, we would be more than happy to talk to them.”
