Despite the recession, Deutsche Leasing has
managed to report a 15 percent increase in new business volumes,
from €7.8 billion to €9 billion in 2008, exceeding the company’s
target by €0.5 billion.
The lessor’s vendor-driven foreign new business
accounted for €1.6 billion of the total, a 50 percent year-on-year
growth for Deutsche Leasing’s international arm.

“Our business has been
disproportionately strong right up to the last day of our fiscal
year, notwithstanding the financial market crisis,” said Deutsche
Leasing CEO Hans-Michael Heitmüller.

Separately, Grenke Group, which
includes the Grenkeleasing franchises, has reported an 18 percent
increase in new business volumes, to €601 million, in 2008. Leasing
activities accounted for €542.9 million of the total amount, with
international businesses contributing 46.7 percent of the
total.

“Growth and profitability of new
business saw a very positive development and were ahead of
schedule,” said Dr Uwe Hack, deputy chairman of the executive board
of Grenkeleasing AG.

“The fact that the international
business is supported by seven countries, each reporting in excess
of €10 million in new business volumes, is very encouraging.”
