Rental and asset manager Microlease will
provide the Galileo GPS (global positioning system) Space Project
with its Leo web- and mobile-enabled business management solution
and software support, after signing an open-ended contract.
The Leo system will support Europe’s global
navigation satellite system and aid in managing the maintenance of
ground station assets at the project’s control centre. Designed to
support the lifecycle of assets from ‘design to disposal’, Leo will
hold data and maintain the build quality and configuration of
assets at the Galileo ground control site in Oberpfaffenhofen,
Bavaria, and at others around the world. Microlease will also hold
spare parts for operational maintenance.
Leo was developed by asset management software
specialist Hamilton Hall Consultants, acquired by Microlease in
April, and includes users from the Ministry of Defence and the
aerospace and fire security industries.
The Galileo programme, managed by the European
Space Agency, with contract procurement funding supplied by the EU,
will eventually comprise 30 satellites providing accurate timing
and location data.
