LDF Group, formed after Cheshire-based LDF acquired Scottish firm First Independent Finance (FiF) at the end of last year, has appointed Ross Rutherford as its head of legal.

Rutherford was previously head of legal for FiF and guided FiF through its journey to a fully-regulated business under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the UK financial regulator.

Prior to FiF, Rutherford worked in private practice as a solicitor with Harper Macleod LLP, acting for a variety of large corporate and institutional clients during his six year tenure.

LDF Group managing director Peter Alderson said: "Ross will work closely with LDF’s existing Compliance and Operations teams to keep the Group well advised of the ever changing legal and regulatory landscape, ensuring LDF remain at the forefront of the SME finance arena."
