Funding Xchange (FXE), an SME lending specialist, has announced the appointment of Paul Gordon as non-executive chair of the Group.
Gordon will support the company’s growth strategy, building on its delivery of SME lending technology to major financial institutions such as Barclays, Shawbrook, and Monzo. FXE aims to enhance access to tailored lending solutions while reducing costs for financial institutions.

Gordon’s appointment follows FXE’s successful Series B funding round in 2024, led by Barclays. He will work with the management team to drive the adoption of assisted ‘decisioning technology’, enabling faster and more effective credit assessments in commercial lending.
Gordon recently retired from Lloyds Banking Group after a 40-year career spanning retail and commercial banking. His experience includes executive leadership roles in the UK, Australia, and Asia, as well as board positions such as chairman of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and non-executive director of LDC, Lloyds Banking Group’s equity investment arm. Most recently, he served as managing director of Relationship Management, Business & Commercial Banking, where he gained insight into the challenges and opportunities of digital technology adoption in commercial lending.

Gordon succeeds Simon Featherstone, who has served as non-executive chair for five years, guiding FXE through its Series A funding and the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Featherstone’s leadership was instrumental in securing the recent Series B funding and scaling FXE Technologies, the company’s technology arm.
