Fleet provider Fraikin has signed a deal with a Scottish food transporter to provide two temperature-controlled trucks on a five-year full-service contract.
Inverness-based Williamson Foodservice was formed 60 years ago, and transports foodstuffs including dairy and drinks. The business has additional depots in Glasgow and Stornoway and operates a commercial vehicle fleet of 30.
The fleet is composed of 17 light commercial vehicles, six of which are on contract hire, and 13 owned by the business.
The two temperature-controlled 7.5 tonne trucks provided by Fraikin will replace older vehicles, and supply food and drink to retailers and caterers in Scotland’s highlands and islands by land and ferry.
The Fraikin deal will include a maintenance and service package, through a third-party network, allowing features such as tyre replacement and breakdown support.
Gary Williamson, managing director at William Foodservice, said: “Our vehicles clock up a high mileage delivering well off the beaten track for most truck fleets, so maximising uptime was pivotal – particularly when carrying temperature sensitive loads.
