Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Armenia are set to benefit from a new financial package provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union (EU).
The funding, distributed through Acba Leasing, aims to support local businesses’ adoption of modern and environmentally friendly technologies.
The EBRD is providing a loan of $5 million (€4.6 million), while the EU is contributing grant incentives of up to 12.5 per cent of each lease, along with complimentary consultancy services. These grants and technical assistance are part of the EU4Business initiative, which promotes economic development across Eastern Partnership countries.
The funds will be used by Acba Leasing to offer leases to Armenian firms, helping them acquire modern equipment, upgrade production processes, improve product quality, and enhance health and safety standards. Notably, 70 per cent of the loan is earmarked for investments in green technologies, supporting businesses in improving their environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.
Acba Leasing, a provider of leasing in the Armenian market, is owned by Acba Bank and has a long-standing focus on the MSME and agricultural sectors.
The EBRD, a key institutional investor in Armenia, has so far invested over €2.4 billion in 220 projects, with a strong focus on promoting private-sector growth and the transition to a green economy in the country.
