Cunningham joins from DWF, where he held roles
including head of asset finance and head of banking and finance. He
will now lead the Manchester-based asset finance team at DLA Piper,
and will focus on large national and international
transactions.
He has been recognised by Chambers and Legal
500 as an expert in his field, and has worked in structured asset
finance, including equipment, vehicle, aviation and marine finance,
advising finance providers and corporates.
Cunningham has held positions in London, Hong
Kong and Paris, and will now work alongside DLA Piper’s asset
finance team in London, as well as the contentious asset finance
team headed up in Manchester by partner Stewart Plant.
Partner and EMEA head of finance at DLA Piper
Bob Charlton said: “Our asset finance team is growing fast – Alan’s
appointment will allow us to continue to build on the significant
progress and success that the UK team has achieved to date.”
The firm will also be strengthening its
national and regional asset finance offering as part of its
strategic planning over the next three years. Solicitor Michael
Nelson has also joined the firm and will work with Cunningham on
the asset finance team in Manchester.
