Tandem Bank has added four senior professionals to its executive team to drive its green digital banking initiative in the UK.

Catherine Diamond has been appointed chief people officer. She has extensive experience leading people and culture initiatives at TSB, Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS plc, Bank of Scotland, and most recently, Prima.

Focusing on enhancing Tandem’s employee brand, Diamond said: “I’m delighted to join Tandem at such an exciting time of growth and transformation. Joining a business that’s been recognised by the Sunday Times only strengthens my commitment – and excitement – to Tandem and its people. People are at the centre of Tandem, and I’m excited to continue to build on its reputation as a great employer.”

Darvish Heshejin has been appointed director of strategic growth. He has extensive experience in developing technology-driven solutions for the consumer and SME sectors. His previous positions include VP of growth at Selina Finance and a pivotal role at Kriya, a digital SME lender.

Heshejin said: “It’s been a transformational few years for Tandem, and the bank is excellently positioned to expand into new markets and develop its green consumer proposition. I’m excited to work with the amazing team and help deliver some great things.”

Marriam Malik has been appointed as company secretary and general counsel. Her extensive legal experience in finance, commercial, and corporate law includes time spent with London City law firms and in-house roles at global banking institutions.

The bank named Adi Kadle as its new director of engineering. He previously served as global technology head for Markets FX and OTC Derivatives at JPMorgan, managing more than a million trades worth $650bn daily.

Kadle said: “Tandem’s mission is unique and I’m confident that we can make our app and the green hub, the industry benchmarks of excellence. Our goal is to pave the way for building a truly green digital bank of the future, where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand.”

Furthermore, Steve Peacock assumed the new role of director of internal controls and customer outcomes, the bank announced.

Tandem Bank has significantly evolved over the past two years, with 2023 being especially strong. Its customer base grew to over 300,000, and deposits more than doubled for the second year, exceeding £3.6bn. Profits nearly quintupled, marking another year of solid underlying profitability.
