Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has appointed Niels Gooch as Head of Sales for its foreign exchange division, Bibby Foreign Exchange (BFX), as the company seeks to expand its support for UK SMEs engaged in international trade.
Gooch brings over 15 years of experience in foreign exchange (FX) risk management, having most recently served as UK and EMEA Sales Director at Associated Foreign Exchange Ltd (AFEX).

During his tenure at AFEX, he held several strategic roles and helped develop the company’s business across the UK and Europe, specialising in international payments, FX risk management and cross-border banking solutions.
In his new role at BFS, Gooch will lead the sales strategy for BFX, aiming to broaden the firm’s support for small and medium-sized businesses navigating overseas trade.
Michael McGowan, Managing Director for BFX, said: “More than ever, small and medium sized business owners need support in overcoming the complexities of trading overseas, so I’m delighted to welcome Niels to the team. His extensive experience and deep understanding of international payments and FX risk management will be invaluable as we continue to grow our support for UK importers and exporters.”
Commenting on his appointment, Gooch said: “I was attracted to join BFS because it is a leading family-owned business with a strong reputation in financial services and a range of products that can help support many more businesses in the future. With a positive culture focused on supporting its teams and a clear commitment to long-term customer relationships, I saw a strong platform to further extend BFS’s international network.”
