The inaugural meeting of newly-formed industry
organisation the Leasing Foundation was described as “very animated
and participative” and very successful.
Co-founder of the organisation, which was
created to support the leasing and asset finance industry, Andrew
Denton, told Leasing Life the meeting was “all he had
hoped for,” and said the 15 governors in attendance discussed how
to develop the Foundation’s ambitions for research, industry
development and education.
Denton, who is also chief operating officer
with CHP Consulting, which hosted the meeting at its London
offices, said: “It was a very animated and participative
meeting.
“There was a very productive discussion around
making sure we have the right tools to attract the next generation
into the industry.”
Further Founding
Denton said the governors agreed on the
importance of developing education and training and of inspiring
young people to join the industry and added the UK’s Finance &
Leasing Association (FLA) was doing good work in this area.

By GlobalDataThe governors also wished to ensure people
were clear about the differentiation between the Foundation and the
“great work” of national and international trade bodies such as the
FLA, Leaseurope and others.
“We are looking to work alongside these
organisations and certainly not replace them in any way,” Denton
said.
The group also discussed developing gender and
ethnic diversity within the industry and making sure the
organisation could raise funds to achieve its aims.
Denton told Leasing Life further
details of the Foundation’s plans would emerge soon including the
group of industry leaders within the organisation called Founding
Fellows which would act as a steering group for the planned
research projects.
