Allied Irish Bank (AIB) has provided a £2.7m (€3m) funding facility to medical imaging center Opus Diagnostics in the UK.
Opus Diagnostics has recently rebranded from Berkshire Medical and Imaging Centre and relocated from Windsor to premises in Ascot. AIB’s British subsidiary has structured a funding facility consisting of a loan for the purchase and fit-out costs of the premises and asset finance to assist the commissioning of high-end diagnostic equipment.
Donagh Kenny, senior relationship manager at AIB, said: “Opus are extremely experienced and offer a very professional service to their patients. This has been enhanced by the move to new premises and the new equipment commissioned.
“Already patients are attending daily for quality scans with immediate diagnosis due to radiologists on site and state-of-the art IT systems. We look forward to supporting further growth plans as Opus looks to expand further across the country with additional clinics.”
Opus Diagnostics was established in 2017. Andrew Unwin, consultant orthopaedic surgeon, is a co-shareholder, along with a number of orthopaedic surgeons and experts in the IT Industry. They are joined by six members of clinical staff and two working in administration.
Unwin said: “I am delighted to launch our new facility and brand in Ascot. It has been fitted out to our exact specification to provide a complete diagnostic clinic offering our patients the latest technology including MRI, X-ray, ultrasound and DEXA equipment.

By GlobalData“I am very excited to offer high end diagnostic services to the local healthcare community and am hoping to replicate the clinic in other sites across London, the South East and the UK.
“I have also been very happy with the assistance of AIB. The completion of the project would not have happened without the backing of the team and their understanding of my business. I have received excellent support from the initial strategy, assistance with my business plan and liaison with manufacturers.”
