Italian lessor Banca Agrileasing has secured a $17.5 million
(€13 million) boat leasing deal with a Venice-based enterprise.
The Padova-based branch of Rome-headquartered Agrileasing led a
pool of lessors in the deal with the Calderan Group.
The transaction involves financing the acquisition of a
13,000-ton bulk carrier, a merchant ship for transporting unpacked
cargo such as grain.
Banca Agrileasing, which provided $10.5 million, is owned by
Iccrea Holding, which is in turn part of Credito Cooperativo, a
network of Italian banks operating in most Italian regions.
The deal will enable the Calderan Group, a firm which operates
in the Italian maritime industry, to expand its core activities of
tug boating and ship management.
