3stepIT has appointed Tiia Katajamäki to the newly created role of senior manager, sustainability.
Katajamäki (pictured below) will report to the chief operations officer and is tasked with driving 3stepIT’s commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), with an early focus on the company’s zero carbon and zero waste agenda, the company said.

This new role is an integral part of delivering on 3stepIT’s ambition to be a world leader in sustainability, working with its customers to eliminate electronic waste by ensuring business-critical technology is managed efficiently and responsibly.
Katajamäki is an economist by trade who has more than 12 years’ experience working in data management and business development, with a focus on sustainability, cleantech and circular solutions.

She will draw on this experience to work closely with 3stepIT’s product development team, ensuring the company continues to develop world-class circular economy solutions for its customers, 3stepIT said.

Based in Helsinki, Katajamäki previously worked as the sustainability development manager at TietoEVRY, where she was responsible for the digital services company’s global energy roadmap and supply chain CR management. Before this, she held senior sustainability roles at the City of Helsinki, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Nokia.
Website revamp
3stepIT has also announced the launch of its revamped website “to help organisations accelerate their transition to sustainable IT consumption” the company said.
As businesses look to implement cleaner, greener solutions across the value chain, one crucial area for scrutiny is IT procurement and disposal of legacy tech.
“The website is designed to provide CIOs, procurement officers and sustainability leaders with practical insights on how easy it is to switch to a circular computing model that does away with the traditional ‘buy, use’ dispose’ attitude that’s so entrenched in many organisations,” a press release said.
“Visitors to the website will see the benefits of a ‘take, make, reuse, recycle’ approach to IT management. This is an essential consideration given e-waste continues to be a mounting problem globally,” the company said.
