3stepIT, a technology lifecycle management provider, has appointed Fredrik Örnberg to the role of circular technology director who will be based in Sweden.
Örnberg will be tasked with driving 3stepIT’s growth strategy for the REstepIT IT Asset Disposal business, which supports customers to manage obsolete business technology sustainably. He will report to the chief commercial officer.
Örnberg has more than 25 years’ experience as a sustainable technology leader. He joins 3stepIT from Arrow Electronics, where he was most recently director of customer operations across EMEA.
He will be charged with expanding the REstepIT service across Europe, building on a record-breaking year in 2020. Nearly 300,000 devices were processed for IT asset disposal customers last year, an increase of close to 30 per cent since 2017.
The REstepIT service uses the principles of the circular economy to give obsolete business technology a second life. Customers are paid market value for redundant IT, which is securely sanitised using best-in-class technology, then refurbished and resold. This extends the device life and reduces its carbon and electronic waste impact.
