Where is the best place to go
if you want to find out what’s really going on in the
office?
The kitchen.
What time do you usually leave
the office?
Around 7pm – this is normal in
Portugal, we start at 9am and leave at 6.30pm-7pm. Unfortunately,
that means that I only spend a short time with my child as she
needs to go to sleep early.
What’s your favourite
restaurant?
Oporto in Porto, Portugal.
What do you do at
weekends?
I spend time with my child. She is
very young and I love spending time with her. In the past, during
my free time I enjoyed reading and beach walking, although doing so
now is not so easy. I think when she’s grown up we can do that
together again.
Who is your mentor or role
model?
My father. He was a company manager
and ran a family business in the steel industry. I learned a lot
from him, he helped me a lot in my work, and also showed how to
succeed in an organisation.
What’s one of the best things
about your job?
I can learn a lot about all the
industries and activities I come across during my credit analysis
work.
If you weren’t in your current
job, what would you have been?
An architect. When I was young, I
liked drawing straight lines a lot. I thought I could one day
become an architect, but as every child, I was influenced by my
parents. Before my universities studies, I did a test and found
that I could either be good in architecture or in finance. Because
my dad was in business, I chose finance.
What’s your biggest
work/career mistake?
To choose the banking business,
because of the hard times we are going through. Banks in Portugal
have suffered a lot. In the past, banking was the best and most
secure job, today it is just another job.
What car do you
drive?
An Audi.
What book are you currently
reading?
None, I don’t have enough free
time.
What’s on your CD player or
MP3 player at the moment?
A mix of music (mostly from the 1990s).
