Iveco Capital has won its first
deal to supply commercial vehicles to Widdowson, the UK haulage
company.
The Italian bus and truck manufacturer
will provide Widdowson with five new Iveco Stralis tractor units
under a five-year operating lease provided by Iveco Capital.

The Leicester-based company, whose
150-unit fleet has been provided by Scania for the past three
years, ordered the trucks after running a Stralis demonstrator for
about a month. The deal also includes provision of repair and
maintenance.
Harry Hawksworth, technical director
of Widdowson, said that rising prices from most companies had
convinced Widdowson to “consider other options” in the market.
He added: “Prior to these new vehicles
going on the road, Iveco sent one of its training managers to
educate our own internal training staff about the vehicle. This
ensures we can help our drivers extract the maximum performance and
economy from the new fleet.
“I am looking forward to closely
evaluating the Stralis’ performance over the next 12 months.”

Commercials.
