Law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has hired a new partner,
Richard Hughes, recently departed from the London arm of US-based
Sidley Austin.
Hughes, who will advise on asset finance as well as structured
finance, securitisation, and property finance, will take the
headcount of BLP’s London banking and capital markets practice up
to 16.
Hughes told Legal Week: “BLP is a broad church. It is
entrepreneurial and business-driven and Neville [Eisenberg] is
showing great vision. It is a firm that is prepared to take
advantage of the shake-up the market has recently taken by getting
strong people in areas they want to be strong in.”
The high-profile acquisition is the latest in a string of new
appointments for the City firm, marking the third partner hire for
the finance practice alone this year.
Also, by way of reinforcing its presence in Islamic and aviation
finance in Asia, BLP has relocated senior asset finance partner Tom
Budgett, from London to its Singapore office.
BLP LLP is a law firm with over 730 lawyers based in offices in
London, Abu Dhabi, Brussels, Moscow, Paris and Singapore.
