Not-for-profit industry body the Leasing Foundation has formed a working group dedicated to the organisation’s philanthropic aims.
When the Foundation was formed in 2012, one of its stated aims was to provide a focus for the industry’s charitable activities.
The group will be led by K Bill Dost, managing director of D&D Leasing; and includes John Hooper, UK executive director of National Australia Bank; Tarun Mistry, a partner at Grant Thornton and Ashley Sylvester, operations director of Motability Operations.
Dost said the group aims to engage with a "large community of people" across the leasing and asset finance industry and added one of its areas of focus would be in education.
He said: "We want to enhance the industry’s already highly positive attitude, and emphasise that giving should be a fundamental part of the fabric of doing business that extends to more than direct financial contributions."
The discussion of philanthropy will feature in the Foundation’s first annual conference on 30 September, where Tris Lumley, director of New Philanthropy Capital, will talk about how to measure impact in charitable giving, and Verity Rowles, director of Corporate and Philanthropy at Macmillan Cancer Support, will talk about building relationships between donors and causes.
