The Russian Bank for Development (RBD), which is in charge of
implementing the state SME lending support programme, is developing
a new mechanism of SME support through leasing companies.

The programme aims to give SMEs easier access to new equipment
through leasing.

For example, one lessor – OOO Transleasing Chelyabinsk – was
recently given RUB 32 million (€722,000) by the RBD, which it then
used to fund a leasing project for an SME located in the Republic
of Komi.

The business, which specialises in construction and road
building, has acquired new construction equipment through the
programme, which will help it to develop its business further.

According to the RBD, the project also has a high social value:
through the project, “more jobs will be created in the Republic for
excavation works”, the organisation said.
