Commercial vehicle contract hire provider BRS
will supply five Renault Premium rigid trucks to Allport Specialist
Services.
The contract includes vehicle financing,
full-service contract hire, legal compliance and a variety of
repair and maintenance under the management of BRS.
The Renault Premiums will join the 40-strong
Allport fleet delivering, positioning and installing bulky and
outsize consignments such as ATM machines and computers.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be
showcasing the company’s history and future at the IAA Commercial
Vehicles show in Hannover, 20-27 September, with 120 vehicles on
display.
The exhibition will celebrate the
65th anniversary of the VW Transporter as well as
demonstrate the range of electric-run concept vehicles under
development by the brand, including 4Motion and BlueMotion
tech.
Despite many of the delivery vans on show,
including a solar-powered refrigerated model, not being available
“very soon,” according to Rudolf Krebs, group manager for electric
traction at VW, “we must make plans today for what the world of
lightweight commercial vehicles might look like in the second half
of this decade.”
UK LCV values down
3.6%
The average value of a light commercial
vehicle (LCV) in the UK dropped 3.6% to £4,075 from July to August,
£19 above the August 2011 value, according to British Car Auctions
(BCA).
Month-on-month, average age at auction was up
by a month to 58 months, while average mileage fell to
78,000. Year-on-year, however, average age was up from 54
months and average mileage up from 74,000.
Age, mileage and value were all up for
ex-fleet and lease vans year-on-year, from 44 to 45 months, 68,000
to 72,000 miles, and by 4.1% to £4,844, respectively.
The average age of part-exchange vans was up
1.7% to nearly 79 months, average mileage was up 0.5% to 89,000,
and average value up 10.1% to £2,784, year-on-year.

Vehicle information supplier HPI has reported
the Ford Transit still tops the most-stolen list of LCVs in the
UK.
HPI also warned used van buyers and dealers to
protect themselves, saying a quarter of second-hand LCVs had
“something to hide,” including one in eight having outstanding
finance. A van sold with finance due could be returned to the
finance company that funded the original sale, with no recompense
to the used buyer or dealer.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was second on the
HPI list, the Mitsubishi L200 third, and the Nissan Primastar and
Peugeot Expert rounded out the top five.
Ford appoints CV press
officer
Ford Commercial Vehicles has appointed Dan
Jones as press officer ahead of the next launches for the Transit
and Transit Connect models.
Jones moves from Ford Britain’s Communications
and Public Affairs office, where he spent the past three years, and
will be in attendance at the Hannover CV show to help with the
debut of the Transit 2T.
Jones said he was “looking forward to playing
a direct part in the success of the UK’s most famous van
line-up.”
