Carl Zeiss launches pay-as-you-go leasing scheme
Carl Zeiss, the microscopy, medical equipment and lens manufacturer, has launched a pay-as-you-go scheme for its coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs). According to the manufacturer, the scheme is more flexible than current leasing offers as it allows customers use of the machine for one year, paying only for the hours of use, subject to an agreed minimum usage.
US ELFA sees new business volume fall 35% in July
The USs Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) showed that new business volume in July declined by 35 percent year-on-year. ELFAs Monthly Leasing and Finance Index, which reports economic activity for the $650 billion (455 billion) American equipment finance sector, also reported that month-to-month new business volume also decreased, by 7.7 percent from June to July, from $5.2 billion to $4.8 billion.
UK business confidence turns positive, GDP to rise – ICAEW

EU Commission approves LeasePlan acquisition
The European Union has given its final approval to German carmaker Volkswagen and Dutch investment company Fleet Investments to take joint control of LeasePlan Corporation, the Dutch car lessor. LeasePlan was jointly controlled by VW and two other companies, Abu Dhabis Mubadala Development Company and Saudi Arabias Olayan Group, which are selling their shares to German investment company Fleet Investments, part of the Metzler Group.
