UK independent lessor 1pm has signalled strong expectations for the year ahead following a return to profit for its financial first-half ending 30 November 2010. The company made a profit before tax of £63,000 (75,800) for the six months, compared to a loss of £226,000 for the same period in 2009.

New lessor in China
A Taiwanese investment bank has won approval from the Financial Supervisory Commission to open a financing and leasing company in China. Industrial Bank of Taiwan, a leading investment banks on the island, claimed to be the first local financial institution able to enter the mainland finance and leasing market since Taiwan and China signed an economic co-operation framework agreement.
ILFC to open in Amsterdam
is to expand this year with a new regional office in Amsterdam. ILFC, which currently has a fleet of about 950, has also announced it intends to purchase new aircraft.
