Lombard signs up small fleets
The number of small fleets signing up to contract hire with Lombard Vehicle Management (LVM) has increased by 23% in the year toend-September. The lessor reported a 10% increase in the number of contracts with small fleets (those up to 150 vehicles), in the month of September.
CALEF in major renewables plan
Crdit Agricole Leasing & Factoring (CAL&F) will participate in a 700m renewable energy project launched by the administrative region of Midi-Pyrnes and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB is providing a 350m credit line to Crdit Agricole via its leasing subsidiary CAL&F and four Crdit Agricole regional banks and to Banque Populaire et Caisse dEpargne (BPCE). The two banking groups will jointly provide an additional 350 million to co-finance the programme, aimed at public and private companies, agricultural enterprises and local authorities seeking to set up renewable energy projects in the French region.
New accounting rules to impact lessees’ choices
One in two lessees could move away from leasing in the future as a result of the proposed changes on lease accounting. A survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has revealed that between 40% and 60% of the lessees surveyed dont expect to continue leasing the same way as today once the new lease accounting standards are in place.

BNP Paribas has reshuffled the management team at its Equipment Solutions division with two appointments. Didier Chappet will be the new CEO of BNP Paribas Lease Group (BPLG), replacing Philippe Bismut He joined BNP Paribas in 2005, as head of the back office in French retail banking
UniCredit Leasing secures ?350m for SMEs
The latest agreement is for a 350m loan to be used for financing investments by Italys SMEs, and takes the total of loans obtained by UniCredit Leasing from the EIB to around 1bn this year

Steve Box, managing director of HSBC Invoice Finance, has been appointed head the Asset Based Finance Association (ABFA).Box replaces Maurice Craft, managing director of Regency Factors, who held the position for a year.He has also been appointed joint head of HSBCs invoice and equipment finance businesses in the UK and will now take responsibility for both units in a structural shift aimed at streamlining the business.Richard Carter remains in his position as head of equipment finance in the UK.
