Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has upgraded its European warehouse in Oosterhout, Netherlands, in response to increasing demand for its spare parts.
The facility’s stock has grown from 68,800 parts in 2015 to approximately 80,000 in 2024, with expectations for continued growth. HCME has designed a modernised warehouse to accommodate this expansion.
HCME partnered with Neovia, a logistics provider, to optimise the 28,000m² warehouse. The facility’s storage locations have increased from 73,000 to 110,000, focusing on large components for mining machines, hoses, piping, and fast-moving items.
The two-year remodelling project has enhanced storage capacity, adding more bins and racks for specific parts, improving picking accuracy, and creating additional secure space for larger, more expensive components.
Hans Lam, Manager of Parts Logistics at HCME, highlighted the booming European mining market as a key driver of the increased demand for parts. “We are proud to reopen the new warehouse on 27 June, unveiling it to our colleagues, HCME’s senior leadership team, Michael Fahy (CEO of Neovia), and Miguel Mazarias (Neovia Senior Vice President EAME and APAC),” said Lam.
Throughout the modernisation, HCME maintained high service levels for dealers and customers, ensuring a consistent and reliable parts supply. Lam added, “We now have a state-of-the-art fulfilment centre that will continue to meet their needs in the years to come.”
