As part of its efforts to promote newer and cleaner sources of energy for transportation, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions has been working with IVECO, the Italian industrial vehicle manufacturing company, to help companies acquire NGV (natural gas for vehicles) trucks and electric light vehicles.

BNP Paribas LS says it provides services around the whole lifecycle of vehicles, prolonging their usage as much as possible, through maintenance and second-hand financing, for example.

This is offered by their sister-entity, BNP Paribas Rental Solutions, as part of its fleet management services.

Mobility

In a separate development, the lessor’s parent, BNP Paribas, has noted that mobility has become a fashionable term when discussing corporate strategies.

The French bank and financial services provider says this is so because a more sustainable world can simply not be achieved without sustainable mobility.

Citing the World Bank, BNP Paribas says transport is responsible for around 20 per cent of the planet’s CO2 emissions, although this figure varies depending on a country’s level of development.

In France, with 30 per cent of emissions, transportation is the largest emitter.

Sustainable mobility (that is, mobility that emits little pollution, with a lower climate impact and a better quality of life) is therefore crucial, says the bank.

To this end, on 7-8 December BNP Paribas took part in ‘Movin’On LAB Zero-emission Mobility powered by Capgemini’, a series of virtual workshops about mobility against the backdrop of the climate crisis.

Movin’On describes itself as a movement established out of a common vision that “mobility must be sustainable, useful and accessible to all.”

The movement, which has been active since 2017, holds biannual LABs or “think and do tanks” that allow organisations “to act to anticipate, co-innovate and influence” the transition to sustainable mobility.

The Paris-based European LAB has 25 members who work throughout the year on both strategic anticipation (Think) and mobility project development (Do). The LAB acts with the 250 organisations within its ecosystem.

The organisers of Movin’On are to host its 2021 Summit on 1-4 June. The four-day event will cover three venues, three formats and three broadcasting modes “to connect and to engage mobility stakeholders in collective action on concrete solutions for more mobility with less impact.”<
