Fairford Medical Ltd, a supplier for refurbished static and mobile MRI scanners to UK healthcare providers, has expanded its supply of equipment through a bespoke leasing arrangement through Siemens Financial Services.
Fairford Medical, a family-owned firm launched in 2016, came to Siemens in need of particular equipment, technology and finance, Siemens said in a statement.
One of Fairford’s customers – a prominent cancer hospital in London – required a high-quality MRI mobile unit while rebuilding and replacing its onsite scanning centre across a 9-month period.
Previously, Fairford had been unable to provide a unit suitable for the hospital’s technological or spatial requirements. A relatively new firm, Fairford was also eager to preserve cash flow and avoid significant capital outlay, Siemens said.
Siemens Financial Services
Through an arrangement with Siemens Financial Services (SFS) and Siemens Healthineers, Fairford was able to provide the necessary equipment to the hospital, the company said.
Managing director of Fairford, Matthew Bradfield, said: “We wanted to use equipment from Siemens Healthineers and who better to understand the nature and purpose of a particular model than SFS. That integration was a huge benefit throughout the process.”

By GlobalDataBradfield explained the firm’s need to invest in upgrading its fleet after identifying “a growing market demand for these types of high-spec mobile imaging solutions”.
SFS offered a hire purchase arrangement in response to Fairford’s request of maintaining manageable monthly payments.
Subsequently, Fairford paid VAT upfront, alongside fixed low monthly instalments. Upon completion of the arrangement, Fairford will automatically own the equipment.
Establishing inclusive solutions
Under the arrangement, Fairford was also able to build a mobile unit in Holland, equipped with a specific MRI machine – the MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T – enabling the hospital to “support patients during renovations”.
The scanner enables the processing of a greater number of patients per day and accommodates a diverse spectrum of patients, regarding their shapes, sizes and conditions, without compromising on image quality.
Bradfield revealed the demand for further mobile units: “We already have multiple requests for the mobile scanning unit once this contract ends”.
Sally-Anne Whybrow, sales manager – public sector and healthcare finance at Siemens Financial Services said: “The success of the mobile unit thus far demonstrates the growing demand for the solutions that Fairford offers. Finance from SFS helped the business to expand faster and we hope to continue to support Fairford’s expansion in the future.”
