The Croatian Leasing market is on the rise with over 28,000
contracts already signed in the first six months of 2008, according
to the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA).
The Zagreb-based body has released data showing a 30 percent
increase in financial leases signed compared to the same period in
2007, with a total value of about HRK18.24 billion (€2.6 billion).
Rise in operating leases was reported at 23 percent, reaching
HRK15.5 billion (€2.2 billion).
Most deals were written by Hypo Leasing, a subsidiary of
Austrian bank Hypo Alpe Adria Bank, which controls around 30 per
cent of Croatia’s leasing market.
Hypo Leasing was followed by Immorent Croatia (part of another
Austrian bank, Erste Bank), and Italian-owned Unicredit Leasing,
which obtained the highest profit in 2007.
