UniCredit Leasing has once again come out on top of Leaseurope’s
ranking of European leasing companies. The Italian lessor was
followed by two French lessors, BNP Paribas Equipment Solutions and
SG Equipment Finance.

Although UniCredit Leasing saw year-on-year new business fall by
14.6 percent to €12.7 billion, the Italian lessor was still nearly
€1 billion ahead of BNP Paribas Equipment Solutions, its nearest
competitor.

The French lessor was the finance company with the highest
volume of new contracts, however, signing 467,494 contracts in
2008.

The lessor with the largest volume of new business outside of
Europe was De Lage Landen, where non-European new business was €6.1
billion. This was well ahead of SG Equipment Finance, the lessor
with the second largest non-European new business volume, worth
just over €1 billion.

In total, the top ten largest leasing companies recorded €89.1
billion of total new business in Europe, a decline of nearly 3
percent on 2007’s €91.6 billion.
