ABFA

Steve Box, managing director of HSBC Invoice Finance, has been
appointed head the Asset Based Finance Association (ABFA).
Box replaces Maurice Craft, managing director of Regency Factors,
who held the position for a year.
He has also been appointed joint head of HSBC’s invoice and
equipment finance businesses in the UK and will now take
responsibility for both units in a structural shift aimed at
streamlining the business.
Richard Carter remains in his position as head of equipment finance
in the UK.

 

Tim Hudson, Aston BarclayAston Barclay

UK vehicle auctioneer Aston Barclay has appointed Tim Hudson as
its new managing director following Les Scarborough’s
retirement.
Hudson joins the company after spending eight years at LeasePlan –
most recently as managing director of LeasePlan International and
previously as operations director and commercial director at
LeasePlan UK.
Before that, he held senior roles at Lex Vehicle Leasing and Nissan
Finance.

CAP

CAP, the UK provider of residual values data, has appointed John
Watts as senior editor, in charge of forecasting pricing for vans,
trucks and motorcycles.
Watts joined CAP in 1999, having already spent more than 20 years
in the van and truck industry.

 

CLFA

The Czech Leasing and Financial Association has a new
chairman.
Jiri Matula was appointed last month replacing Martin Kofron.
Matula has been general director of UniCredit Leasing since 2006
and deputy chairman of CLFA since 2007.
Blazena Valkosakova is the new deputy chair of the association.

 

Rainer Weis, Deutsche LeasingDeutsche Leasing

Deutsche Leasing has appointed Rainer Weis and Matthias Laukin
to its management board.
Weis will be responsible for Deutsche Leasing’s fleet business and
for the cooperation between the lessor and the
Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe saving banks. Laukin will be in charge of
national sales within the SME and IT leasing business.
Laukin, who took over on 1 October, previously worked with the
lessor’s real estate subsidiary DAL Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing.
The company has also announced that Philippe De Geyter will resign
from the management board by the end of the year.

 

Edward Symmons

UK valuation consultancy Edward Symmons has appointed Ian
Millington as asset finance manager.
Millington has 20 years’ experience in the sector, having worked
for a number of financiers including Barclays Asset Finance and GE
Commercial Distribution Finance. Most recently, he worked as credit
manager for UK and Ireland at Key Equipment Finance.
In his new role, Millington will work closely with insolvency
practitioners and finance houses.

 

Lenovo Financial
Services

CIT Group has named Jon Singleton as European programme director
for its vendor finance partnership with computer supplier
Lenovo.
Singleton will be responsible for developing Lenovo Financial
Services (LFS) programme strategy and execution within CIT across
Europe.
He has more than 25 years’ experience in vendor finance, most
recently as European programme director for Apple Financial
Services at GE Capital Solutions.
Prior to that, Singleton worked for a number of European leasing
companies including Heller Global Vendor Finance, Dana Commercial
Credit and Lloyds Bowmaker.

 

LeasePlan

International fleet management company LeasePlan has appointed
Brian Barber as senior vice-president, sales, for its US
branch.
Barber has 17 years of industry experience, and previously held a
role as LeasePlan’s USA national vice president, client
services.

Simon Warrington, ManheimManheim Group

Automotive services company Manheim has appointed Simon
Warrington as its new chief technology officer.
Warrington, who joins the Manheim group board, will review the
company’s technology strategy across the group’s business, in the
UK and Europe.
His previous experience includes a position as global vice
president for packaging company Linpac and before that, as European
chief information officer of GE Commercial Finance Fleet
Services.

 

Stephenson
Harwood

International law firm Stephenson Harwood has expanded its asset
finance practice in Paris with four new hires.
Alain Gautron and Stéphane Salou join as partners; and Serge
Rastorgoueff and Linda Bessa as new associates.
Gautron is an asset finance lawyer with experience in continental
leasing. He previously headed Norton Rose’s shipping finance
practice in Paris.
Salou has knowledge of tax structuring of domestic and cross-border
tax-based leasing of equipment and French real estate.

 

Feargal Quinn, VFSVolvo Financial Services

Volvo Financial Services has appointed Feargal Quinn as
territory manager for Ireland.
Quinn’s new role will involve supporting Volvo’s Irish dealer
network in the promotion of leasing and other finance products for
Volvo trucks.

 

Walkers

Offshore law firm Walkers has taken three lawyers from Matheson
Ormsby Prentice as it sets up an office in Dublin.
Ken Rush is the new asset finance expert and is due to begin in
November.
Garry Ferguson and Paul Farrell will cover investment funds and
corporate finance.
