Suzuki & Lex launch UK contract
hire
Lex Autolease has entered into a partnership
with Suzuki Financial Services to offer contract hire to fleet
customers with fellow Lloyds subsidiary Black Horse offering
personal contract hire for the Japanese manufacturer.
Both products will be aimed at the business
user market, which Suzuki puts at 66,000 customers operating 1.5
million vehicles, with a fifth of business customers running a
fleet of no more than 40 vehicles.
For both business and retail, customers will
agree the length of the agreement of two to five years and a
maximum annual mileage with the dealer, and then pay a fixed
monthly amount.

By GlobalDataFleet team leader leaves Honda
UK
Ed Hummel is leaving his position as leader of
the Fleet team at Honda UK after 18 months in the position.
Under Hummel’s stewardship, year-to-date Honda
has increased fleet sales 16% and true fleet (minus Motability and
rental) sales 34%.
Dave Hodgetts, managing director of Honda UK,
praised the work of Hummel, who joins Glass’s as UK sales director,
and said the corporate market would continue to be a “key focus”
for the brand.
Howick joins Leasedrive executive
board
UK independent fleet management firm
Leasedrive has appointed Joe Howick, rental management director, to
its executive board.
Howick, who joined the firm in 1996 as a
regional sales manager before being promoted to national sales
manager, held the role of sales director at Leasedrive’s rental
management division until last year when he was appointed
director.
Roddy Graham, commercial director of
Leasedrive, said Howick had played a pivotal role in driving sales
growth.
“In the last year, since his promotion to the
role of rental management director, he has risen to further
challenges by implementing new processes and controls to streamline
operational efficiencies,” he added.
GE fleet leader re-elected as ACFO
chairman
Julie Jenner, key solutions manager at GE
Capital Fleet Services, has been re-elected as chairman of ACFO,
the UK body representing fleet decision-makers.
Damian James, head of operations at Bracknell
Forest Council, was elected to the newly created post of deputy
chairman.
The pair were unanimously elected by their
colleagues on the six-strong board of directors John Pryor, car
fleet and travel manager of Arcadia Group, Phil Redman, fleet
manager of IBM UK, Caroline Sandall, fleet manager with Barclays
Bank, and Brian Ingham, fleet manager at T W Birk & Sons who
also serves as ACFO’s finance director.
Jenner has served as chairman since being
first elected in 2006 after joining the ACFO board in 2003.
Jenner said the creation of the post of deputy
chairman reflects the increased workload faced by board members as
ACFO becomes more involved in fleet industry-related talks with
government departments such as HM Revenue & Customs and the
Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
Jenner said: “The fact that the board’s
workload is increasing is reflective of a vibrant and
forward-thinking organisation that is playing a major role in
fleet-related decision-making at the highest level in Whitehall
while continuing to provide fleet decision-makers with individual
help and advice and a wide range of benefits.”
