Kwik-Fit installs Big Brother
Kwik-Fit has added black box telematics to its 200 strong UK fleet of vans in an effort to improve driver behaviour and increase levels of operating efficiency.
The automotive services firm has long used tracking technology in its vehicles, having fitted trackers in their vans for the past 15 years.
The latest update in the technology fitted comes after a six month trial with equipment from Telogis, providers of cloud based fleet management software.
The telematics system will look at driver behaviour including braking and acceleration and will eventually be linked back to the fleet tyre store to enable the ordering of tyres when they are needed for replacement.

Ogilvie expects this to help push the company to a growth rate of 10% and a total book size of 12,000 vehicles by the end of that financial year.
Nick Hardy, fleet sales and marketing director at Ogilvie puts the success of the business down to recent investment and improvements to its customer service function.

ECO Stars project to launch in Sefton

The scheme encourages fleet operators to improve efficiency and reduce both fuel consumption and emissions.
Upon joining, fleets are assessed to determine both operational and environmental performance levels, and awarded a rating of 1 to 5 stars.
Fleet operators are then provided with an action plan containing tailored advice towards helping them achieve greater efficiency.
Peter Evans, Liverpool City Region Freight Co-ordinator, said: "The current development of the Liverpool Superport to host post Panamax vessels and a predicted future increase in port traffic were the key factors in the decision to launch an ECO Stars scheme in Sefton.
