Alexander Baldock is to step down as managing director of
Lombard, the asset finance arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Baldock has held the top role at Lombard since 2008 and will
move to home shopping company Shop Direct Group as chief executive
in September this year where he replaces Mark Newton-Jones.
Baldock recently stepped down from his role on the board of
directors with European leasing trade body Leaseurope where he was
replaced by George Ashworth managing director of asset finance at
Aldermore.
Replacing Paul Lynam, Baldock joined Lombard
in the summer of 2008 from Barclays Commercial Bank, where he was
commercial director.
In his four-year tenure, he oversaw a deeper
integration into RBS, a renewed focus on SME lending and, in recent
months, championed Lombard and the UK asset finance and leasing
industry in the national media.
The July issue of Leasing Life includes an extended
article on this story including exclusive comment from
Alex Baldock.
